Links

On this page we'll tell you how to create links. There are several ways to create links to other pages, projects or websites, and you have plenty of options to choose from.

Automatic navigation

Most wiki types offer automatically generated navigation elements so that you don't have to worry about links at the beginning. The ebook you're now reading features a hierarchical menu on the left as well as navigation arrows and buttons at the bottom of the page. Those elements are automically generated, depending on the wiki type you're working with.

Screen based wiki types also offer generated navigation elements (mostly arrows), and the same is true for web books.

Table of contents

You may add a "table of contents" paragraph to any page. This paragraph will then automatically generate a list of all of your pages including links. Here is an example of a TOC paragraph (you'll notice that it looks very similar to the navigation bar on the left):

List

You may also create links by adding a list paragraph, where each line of the list is a link. You may link to another page, to another project, to a user homepage or to any other website/URL:

The list paragraph offers a certain number of display options, such as displaying links as buttons for example (see below). Check out the list paragraph page for more information.

Link tags / codes

You may also manually add links within your text paragraphs, using the following codes (remove spaces to make them work):

link to a page within the current wiki: [ [ link text:page_id ] ]

link to another project: [ [ link text:/wiki/-/project_id ] ]

e-mail address (will open your e-mail client) [ [ you@example.com ] ] or [ [ Your name:you@example.com ] ]

link to any other website / ULR: [ [ www.example.com] ] or [ [ link text:www.example.com ] ]

Please note that it will be easy to find the page_id or project_id once you're in editing mode.
